1.《There is a pleasure in the pathless woods》

There is pleasure in the pathless woods;
There is a rapture on the lonely shore;
There is society,where none intrudes,
By the deep sea,and music in its roar:
Ilove not man the less,but nature more... -- Lord Byron

Wayne,greetings from Fair banks!Arrived here two days ago.It wasvery difficult to catch rides in the Yukon territory,but I finallygot here.Picked up a new book on the local flora and favna.I'mPrepared and have stocked all necessary comforts to live offThe land for a few months.Might be a very long time before I returnsouth.Just wanted to let you know,you're a great man.

Two years he walks the earth.No phone,no pool,no pets,no cigarettes.Ultimate freedom.A extremist.An aesthetic voyager,whose home is theroad.so now,after two rambling years comes the final and graetestadventure.The climactic battle to kill the false being within and victoriously conclude the spiritual revolution.(戰爭的高潮是消除負面的人性並且成功地完成心靈改革。)No longer to be poisoned by civili-zation,he flees,and walks alone upon the land to become lost in thewild.

Alexander Supertramp,May 1992.

It should not be denied that being footloose has always exhilaratedus.It is associated in our minds with escape from history and oppre-ssion and law and irksome obligations.Absolute freedom.And the roadhas always led west.

"Rather than love,than money,than faith,than fame,than fairness,giveme truth"

The sea's only gifts are harsh blows,and occasionally,the chance tofeel strong.Now,I don't know much about the sea,but I do know thatthat's the way it is here.And I also know how important it is in lifenor necessarily to be strong,but feel strong,to measure yourself atleast once,to find yourself at least once in the most ancient of humanconditions(從最原始的人類狀態去找尋自己),facing the blind,deaf stonealone,with nothing to help you but your hands and your own head.

7.Chris

When they met,Dad was already married.And even after Chris was born,Dad had had another son with his firt wife,Marcia,to whom he was stilll egally married.This fact suddenly re-defined Chris and me as bastardchildren(私生子).Dad's arrogance made him conveniently oblivious to the pain he caused.And Mom,in the shame and embarrassment of a young mistress,bacame his accomplice in deceit.The fragility of crystal isnot a weakness but a fineness.(水晶的脆性是來自它的細緻而非嬴弱。(意指回復到水晶的本質)) My parents understood that a fine crystal glass had to be cared for or it may be shattered.

Wayne,hate to think of a wild man like you in a cage.Tramping is tooeasy withall this money you paid me.My day were moe exciting when I was penniless.I've decided I'm going to live this life for some timeto come.The freedom and simple beauty is just too good to pass up.(自由和單純太美好到讓我覺得倏忽即逝)

9.Chris

I have lived through much,and now I think I have found what is needed for happiness.A quiet secluded life in the country,with the possibility of being useful to people to whom it is easy to do good, and who are not accustomed to have it done to them.And work which one hope may be of some use.Then rest,nature,books,music,love for one's neighbor.Such is my ideaof happiness.

(1)I think careers are a 20th century invention,and I don't want one.(我認為工作只是個二十世紀的發明,但我不熱衷於此。)You don't worry about me.I havea college education.I am not destitude I'm living like this by choice.

(2)I'll miss you,too,Ron.But you're wrong if you think that the joy life comes principally from human relationships.God's placed it all aroundus.It's in everything.(上帝把快樂放在我們周圍的每件事物中)It's in everything we can experience. People just need to change the way theylook at those things.

Ron:But I wanted to tell you something.From the bits and pieces I puttogether,you know,from what you told me about your family,your motherand your dad.And I know you,ve got your problems with the church,too.But there's some kind of bigger thing we can all appreciate,and it souds like you don't mind calling it God.But when you forgive,you love.And whan you love,God's light shines on you.

11.Chris
I have had a happy lifeand thank the lord.Good bye and may God bless all.To call each thing by its right name.
